Hybrid Propulsion Architect (all gender)
At Ascendance we are building tomorrow’s hybrid-electric aviation with ATEA, a unique Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft powered by STERNA, our in-house hybrid-electric propulsion system. We focus our efforts in designing an innovative, safe, silent, clean and affordable aircraft that will be able to blend into existing infrastructures and regulations to ease its deployment and maximise social acceptance.

You are an experienced system engineer and as a member of the technical team at Ascendance you will actively contribute to prototypes (ground and flying) development by designing, implementing and verifying propulsion system functions.
Leading technical prototype projects, you will work in close collaboration with the engineering team deployed on the demonstrator in an effort to push forward our test campaign and aircraft development.
Your main responsibilities will be :
Performing electric / hybrid architecture trade-offs with associated rationales
Technical project management (planning & budget)
Interfacing with aircraft team to consolidate specification and select most relevant technologies and systems
Definition of the associated integration tests: Software In the Loop, Hardware In the Loop…
Test results analysis and definition of the way forwards,
Support on test bench operation.
Where do we stand?
You will be entering the team during a crucial part of our development. Full scale testbenches are ongoing while full scale aircraft development is running at full speed with many issues to tackle regarding communications networks and associated developments.
The job has been made for you if you have : 🛠
A masters degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
A minimum of 8+ years of related experience with propulsion / mechatronics / robotics
Extensive experience handling complex hybrid-electric and/or electric propulsion architectures either in the aeronautics or automotive sectors
Strong background in electrical engineering applied to industrial and certification centric industries such as the aeronautics or automotive sectors
Previous experience in designing a high voltage electrical architecture
Proven ability to adapt to complex and challenging environments with a short timeframe
Proven hands-on ability to lead design efforts.
Technical understanding of aircraft mechanics and specific constraints
A good knowledge of ground and flight tests,
A hands-on experience on system development V-cycle,
It would be a plus if you:
Have an experience in drone industry
Have a good understanding of electric and hybrid propulsion technologies
